Dan Mahoney is a guitarist, pianist and music educator from Eugene, Oregon and a graduate from the University of Oregon Jazz Studies program.

Starting at the age of 6, Dan Began taking piano lessons and quickly realized that music would always play a large role in his life. Sticking to one instrument or one style of playing proved to be difficult for him, but this has become an integral part of his musical identity, playing just about Anything from Rock, classical, Jazz, Funk, Bluegrass to Electronic music.

Originally studying classical guitar in college, he switched his major to jazz and graduated with a degree in Jazz Arranging in 2012. Starting in 2016, he shifted his focus almost entirely to Gypsy Jazz guitar, heavily inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt. Two of his projects, The Whiteaker Hot Club and Tug and the Heart Strings have a strong focus on the Gypsy jazz influence. He has played guitar and keys in many Oregon based bands with a variety of genres that is widespread, including; Bazil Rathbone, Basin & Range, High Step Society, Simple and the Sara b3 Soul Revue. In addition to his extensive background in live performance, Dan is also passionate about recording and Producing music, either from his home recording/teaching studio, or working as studio session player.
